Transferring to UIBS

Looking to continue your business studies in a truly international environment? At United International Business School (UIBS), we make transferring simple, flexible, and rewarding.

Transfer credits from another school or university

Students from other higher education institutions can request the evaluation of credits earned at their previous schools, colleges or universities for transfer into one of our programs. In general, it is our policy to accept credits earned at other higher education institutions at the undergraduate, graduate and in certain cases also postgraduate level, provided that such credits have been earned through courses appropriate to the student’s degree program at our institution. We do reserve the right to not accept credits earned at other institutions of higher education.

Time limitation

There is no time limit within which credits need to have been earned or courses need to have been completed in the past. It is our opinion that qualifications, and credits and courses within those qualifications, hold their value over time. We can only take into consideration transcripts submitted before the start of your studies.

Transfer procedure

To transfer, submit your transcripts and course outlines or syllabi from your previous or current studies using the form. Our Admissions Team will estimate the transfer credits after an initial internal verification, and within 5 business days. The final transfer credit allocation is confirmed only at the time of acceptance confirmation (aka registration) and is subject to academic approval. For certain programs, only the respective Examination Committee is authorized to verify and confirm the transfer credits.

Visa students

Visa students transferring credits need to be enrolled for courses for a minimum of 3 academic quarters on a full-time basis, to be aligned with the visa requirements. This might result in the transfer of less credits or in the enrollment into more courses.

Work experience equivalency

Students without a relevant degree might still be able to apply based on their previous work experience. The conditions are listed below. *

Master Program Equivalence

  • Minimum 15 years of relevant work experience at the management level
  • Employer confirmation required for each position listed
  • Completion of our Outbound Assessment for graduating Master students, possibly resulting in certain levelling courses to be completed prior to starting a Postgraduate program

The admissions department can only take into consideration applications with the relevant employment certificates for all the positions listed.

* Work experience is not considered as an equivalent for students applying to the Master program in Amsterdam.

Non-transferrable credits and other restrictions

We reserve the right to deny credit for courses that are not compatible with the program requirements of our undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate programs. Examples of credits that cannot be transferred are listed below:

  • Credits earned for courses that are not at the higher education level (high school courses, foundation courses, etc.), or at the same level as the one you are transferring to
  • Credits earned for repeated courses with the same course content
  • Credits earned through internships
  • Credits earned for English language courses
  • Partial credits
  • Credits earned at another institution, during the time of studies at our institution and without prior approval from our institution

Final projects must always be completed at UIBS. These cannot transfer into a degree program but can count toward entry into a UIBS Master’s program when combined with additional courses.

Transfer limits

All courses completed and credits earned at other higher education institutions, and for which you earned a passing grade, can be evaluated for transfer into one of our programs. There are limits to the number of transfer credits however. For Bachelor programs, the transfer limit is set at 120 credits or 2/3 of the required credits, and for Master programs, the transfer limit is set at 20 credits or 1/3 of the required credits, whichever criteria you meet first. Even complete certificate, diploma or degree programs may be eligible for transfer. Refer to the table and information below for details.

Programs Maximum number of transfer credits Required credits to earn
Undergraduate Certificate 0 EC 60 EC
Undergraduate Diploma 60 EC 120 EC
Bachelor 120 EC 60 to 180 EC
Graduate Certificate 0 EC 12 EC
Graduate Diploma 0 EC 24 EC
Master 20 EC 40 to 60 EC

Applicants transferring the maximum number of credits or transferring credits from non-business-related programs are recommended to consider the Business Studies programs, as they are the most flexible programs. The Certificate, Diploma, Associate, Bachelor and Master in Business Studies programs consist of mostly electives and will therefore allow students to transfer the highest number of credits and complete the missing requirements in a shorter time. In case these applicants decide to apply for any of our other programs, they can expect a lower number of credits to be transferred due to specific program requirements.
